ACUPRESSURE/ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture is an ancient Indian system of medicine whose fundamental principles can easily be traced in Ancient Indian Texts, Ayurveda and other natural healing methods.
The origin of the Self-Healing Therapy lies in the natural acts of human when they relieve these pains by pressing on the painful areas of body thereby getting relief. If a person has pain on the head or legs, one press on the affected part and get relief. This natural act of healing has been studied in detail and on further analysis has given birth to this simple method of treatment in which various points on the body are pressed to balance the energies, thereby treating various diseases.
Acupressure is a word composed of Acu+pressure. Acu means needle and pressure means to apply force. Thus to press, a point which is as small as a needle tip and thereby treat a disease is known as acupressure. Pressure on such small and subtle points can be applied by seeds, needle, pointed instrument, magnet etc. These modes of treatment provide the various names to this therapy like Acupressure/Acupuncture, Magnet Therapy, Seed Therapy, Color Therapy etc. are the various modes of treatment, all of which have the common fundamentals.
A healing technique that has been practiced for at least 5000 years. While modern Western society tends to rely on drugs and invasive medical procedures to treat illness, acupressure is a simple and safe alternative that is effective for treating thousands of ailments and conditions, including high blood pressure, chronic back pain, insomnia, headache, nausea and arthritis.
How Does Acupressure Work? The whole body or on its corresponding zones, specific points are selected, pressed or applied seeds or needles, or colors, or magnets to create an electromagnetic field in the organ or related body parts, which is known as bioenergy. This bioenergy (Chetna) is the fundamental basis of life or we can say the human body remains healthy or ill, this depends on this bioenergy. The balance of this bioenergy is the aim of acupressure therapy.
When pressure is applied to a specific point it triggers a healing response within the body. The body reacts to this stimulation by releasing endorphins to alleviate pain and altering the heart rate and blood pressure to speed up the transportation of blood to and from the tissue. As a result, the rate at which oxygen and nutrients reach the affected area is accelerated, while toxins, waste and carbon dioxide are removed faster.

The eminent scholar, scientist, and philosopher, Prof. Park Jae Woo, worked over many years to carry out the task of developing this precious contribution to medical history. The Sujok Treatment System, which he developed, is the result of comprehensive research on the correspondence system of the human body as found on the hands and feet. Thus, Sujok Therapy springs from the observation of the similarity of areas of the hands and feet to the human body as a whole.
Indeed, any person can easily discover for himself that the hands and feet most resemble the structure and shape of the body. Correspondence system:
The correspondence system is a peculiar metaphysical(about information and energy) copy of our body or of its part that reflects not only the anatomic structure but the functional state as well. “All correspondence systems of different levels are characterized by their capability to simultaneously receive information about the disorder, react to this information by the marked increase in pain sensitivity in correspondence points, and produce a curative effect through their stimulation”.-Prof. Park Jae Woo, A Guide To Sujok Therapy.
The essence of Sujok therapy is based on the correspondence system. Prof. Park conceived the whole body on hand’s palms and feet’s soles. He established the traditional Chinese system energy meridians and acupoints which are on the body can be only on the palms and soles. This unique effort of Prof. Park has now made the Acupressure/Acupuncture treatment very simple.

Ayurvedic acupressure
Ayurvedic Acupressure is composed of two words i.e. Ayurvda+ Acupressure. It means that Acupressure which is based on the visions of Ayurveda called Ayurvedic Acupressure. In Ayurvedic Acupressure, the five-element theory has some strict format. All the elements are put up in the strict order i.e. Akash, Vayu, Agni, Jal & Prithvi. And also, this order is strict to be followed in elements preceding i.e. Vayu includes Akash. Agni includes Akash- Vayu, Jal includes Akash-Vayu-Agni & Prithvi includes Akash-Vayu-Agni-Jal i.e. all preceding four elements. This is the vital difference between the Chinese & Ayurvedic Acupressure. Even though each element is an independent & separate entity but it has a direct relationship with all the succeeding elements. This feature of Ayurvedic Acupressure makes a wider difference. It is logical & based on the reasoning. All these elements are supposed to be the component of the human body as well as they have parallels or similarities on the macro level. Similarly, all these elements are the components of the macro i.e. the Brahamand or cosmos.
In Ayurvedic Acupressure, the most vital salient feature is that the creature is the unification of the human body & the soul. It shows that the human body, which is composed of five elements & each element is the receptacle of specific energy, here soul represents the combination of all type of energies which is at the back of sensitivity in each of the elements. In a wide aspect, five-elements are physical in nature and soul is metaphysical.
Our human body is a unique example of a wonderful union between physical and metaphysical existence. As a physical world is created by the combination of Akash, Vayu, Agni, Jal, Prithvi, similarly the metaphysical world is created by the five metaphysical elements. As a result of this physical and metaphysical entity existing together, multiple manifestations of nature in the living and non-living world, come into existence. The five metaphysical dimensions are Kaal, Disha, Man, Atma, Tam.
The creation of the entire cosmos and the human body is by the union of five physical and five metaphysical kinds of elements which are ten in numbers. When the human body is ill, the analysis of these ten elements and treatment on their basis makes the body healthy. The position of these ten elements is depicted from 0-9. There is a lot of significance of numbers in the diagnosis and treatment by these ten elements.
